London Facades

These pictures are about the disappearing face of pre-corporate London and were mostly taken between 2004-6. They were shot in areas undergoing, or about to undergo, regeneration, especially in London's East End. The locations were often on the periphery of such schemes where the blight of dereliction still seemed more evident than the intentions to renovate or renew. Most of the facades are shop fronts but there are also a few housing blocks and some commercial and industrial buildings. The photos were shot on 6x6 cm colour negative film.

Mike Seaborne's colour images of fading London shop fronts are both beguiling photographic compositions and poignant documents of disappearing urban forms.
